What qualifying gets you
Two winners. Eight runners-up.
- 2The two qualification winners each go on to lead one of the two competing teams. Before the live competition, they’re treated to a cinema outing to relax before the work begins.
- 8The eight strongest applicants after the winners become the Best 8. They receive an airtime prize, take priority for future editions of On the Edge, and get the chance to take part in this year’s competition virtually. The format of that is revealed privately to the Best 8.

We are evaluating how you reason through an unfamiliar problem, not how well you can prompt an AI tool to produce a polished answer. Submissions that appear to be entirely AI-generated rather than genuine independent thinking may not progress.
